I’m excited to introduce “A Daddy’s Story”— a new and meaningful chapter in my life. It’s a project that’s been on my heart for a long time, and I’m finally stepping out of my comfort zone to share it with you all.
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Billy Scott. I grew up in Roswell, NM and eventually landed in Lubbock, TX, which has been home since around 2002. I am a Christian, a single daddy, and I’m self-employed as a Commercial General Contractor. I have a passion for life, for kids, for people, and both the construction and agriculture communities. I truly believe in working to make a difference in this world and I’m grateful that I get to help build it, too!
Through this walk of life, I’ve been led to share “A Daddy’s Story.” This has been on my mind and heart for most of my adult life, and with some recent life events, I’ve realized it’s way past time to get started.
We only have right now. This moment is the only guarantee you and I have. A dear mentor and friend, someone I deeply admire, used to always say:
“STOP! We only have right now.”
I won’t just talk about parenting nightmares and all the gloomy stuff. I have many interests that we will explore from time to time, such as construction, agriculture and Texas Tech athletics.
I serve as the treasurer of the Miniature Hereford Breeders Association and have raised mini-herefords with my kids for years, winning some big shows along the way. My kids aren’t showing anymore, but I still enjoy helping create a great environment for youth exhibitors at youth stock shows. I’ve also provided animals for research through Texas Tech University, helping glean valuable knowledge about the breed that will benefit producers and exhibitors going forward.
I’ll have guests in our Lubbock studio from time to time-friends of mine with good stories to tell, but more importantly, good advice from life experience.
But as a busy contractor, most of the time I’ll be coming to you from my second office, the pickup truck.
And with most of my pods, you’ll get a healthy dose of Jesus.
